Room for Improvement

January 21, 2010. In an article from Inside Higher Ed. entitled, “Room for Improvement,” there is an increase in the number of employers who will not be hiring recent college graduates, and how colleges have to better prepare students for work. According to the Association of American Colleges and Universities, in a recent survey of executives at 3o2 private sectors and non-profit employers, “only about a quarter of employers surveyed saw two-year and four-year institutions as doing a good job to prepare students for the workplace.”

Help for Haiti

January 20, 2010. A recent article from Inside Higher Ed talks about the lingering effects of last weeks earthquake in Haiti on many colleges in the United States. Institutions in New York City are organizing services to students and their relatives. With about 6,000 students of Haitian decent, New York City has the highest concentration of Haitian residents in the United States.
